The town of Bansko is a main administrative, cultural and economic centre of the County of Bansko. It is located 161 km south of the capital Sofia and 59 km South-East from Blagoevgrad with both of which it is well connected in terms of transport utilities: roads, buses, taxis, etc. Famous as the entrance to the great mountain of Pirin, Bansko is one of the fastest growing Bulgarian winter resorts with a growing influence in the summer tourism industry as well. This is the favourite place for a weekend rest for people coming from the bigger Bulgarian towns and cities.
